I would definitely suggest being a teacher's aid. Besides "getting a foot in the door", if you are with a good teacher the lessons you will learn will far out-value anything you learn in university/college. As a teacher myself, although you do learn teaching strategies and theories during your education-it doesn't even come close to preparing you for being a teacher in an actual classroom full of children with different abilities and personalities. Good luck!
References :
I'm a teacher

How can I begin my career in early child education?
I begin school in the late spring of 2009 and I am interested in getting a job within a school or child center before, just to get an early start. And I am wondering how I may get my foot in the door even if I don't have any prior education. Any suggestions?
