yes they should, but only when needed. my nephew was never disciplined, he is HORRIBLE, i mean horrible, we were at the park, my twins, my nephew his mom and me and our sister. theyre all the same age a few months different thats all. were on the merry go round thing, he bends down, grabs a rock probably the size of a tennis ball, and throws it at my son, and cracked his head open he was bleeding everywhere and i was yelling at him and what does his mom do, "oh he was just playing around hes fine" but im calling 911 with blood pouring out of my sons forehead? kids do need discipline! if someone did that to your child you would feel the same way.

the government an the state are trying to take control of every thing. my daughter spanked her daughter an the kid called C P S they came to the house an almost took all 3 of her kids an put her in jail. she was told she can't spank her kids. the kids got out of hand. it was hell for her for a long time. she finley spanked the kids an told C P S to take the kids home with them. they didn't an left her alone. i do believe in spanking. NOT ABUSE if you don't or can't control your kids what will they turn out to be? kids has to be taught an loved.

You could speak about how timeout and spanking violates children's rights. The researches that show spanking can have negatives effects on children. Children should have the same rights as adults. Children are not property, they are humans and should be treated as such. If you were to a disrespectful adult it would be assault. These are about the only negatives I can think of for discipline.

First, what is discipline defined as? "Discipline" is often an euphemism for hitting children. And most people who study child development say a resounding "no!" to that. Parents and other authority figures should not have cart blanche to discipline in any way they wish. Some will take it to extremes. For example, there is a 17 year old in Tracy who was apparently shacked, starved and beaten as a form of discipline.

If by ‘discipline’, you mean ‘teach’, then I don’t think you’ll find any evidence to support why that would be a good thing for a parent to do. Parents need to teach their children or they are being neglectful.

I believe in DISCIPLINE and CONSEQUENCES but not PUNISHMENT.

Spanking doesn’t actually teach a child anything except fear. Meaning: a kid who is spanked does the right thing because he is afraid of being spanked– but a kid who is not spanked will do the right thing based on morals which you have taught him.

Discipline, spank or punish? Discipline involves teaching a child right from wrong typically through modeling desired behavior or through punishment. As such there is no argument against it.

Parents who don't discipline their children appropriately lose control. They are not in charge of their own home life. When a child runs the show they become confused and it screws up the family dynamics. Parents should not be afraid to discipline a child.Children NEED discipline.

ah, what? lol. Everyone needs discipline. For example if you are late for work every single day for a year…. don’t you think that you would need some discipline, like a notice, or put on probation. If a child lies to you, do you do nothing negative in return. If a toddler hits you in the face because they don’t know about gentle hands yet, do you not scowl and say OUCH!!!!! which in turn upsets them and makes them cry? If your friend hits you in the stomach in jest and it hurt, do you not withdraw emotionally during times of humor to teach her that this is not ok, and thus establishing disciple in the from of loss of social approval? This is honestly a very strange question. How can you raise a child into an adult without some form of discipline??? How can you think think this is an option?

Yes, but it should be non-abusive. If a child is not disciplined by their parents, then WHO is suppose to teach them right and wrong? I think the law has been taken too far when a grandparent can be arrested for YELLING at their grandchild, when the child was not even touched physically. Spanking is acceptable, as long as there are no physical marks left on the child. I would even go far enough to say that some children NEED it.

My god can you imagine what the world would be like with a bunch of kids running around doing/saying whatever they felt whenever they felt like it?
I sincerely hope you get zero NO’s.
Sorry, but that’s insane.
On the OTHER side, I think that more parents should do a little MORE disciplining. . .

Allowed? Can you imagine if all the children in the world were allowed to run wild and do what they please? We NEED to discipline our children to teach them life and respect, and most of all keep them safe. Doesn't mean we have to hurt them, we have to guide them. So yes, it is our right as parents to discipline our children.
