This is a “documentary” that we did for a classroom management assignment that outlines some simple tips & tricks for classroom misbehavior. It also shows some great examples of what NOT to do.

Same thing I’ve said with other such videos: it would be better to show an example of good classroom management after showing the bad examples. It’s easy to talk about good classroom management and what not to do, but it’s more challenging to model an effective response to the disrespectful behavior so common in classrooms.

I agree that it’s important to treat students with respect and that yelling is not necessary.

I teach English in the middle east and I can’t see how anyone would not find this video helpful. If you think this video is useless why would you waste time commenting on it.? Try teaching a room full of Arab 5th graders for a month or so and you will be searching youtube to find this stupid video.!

All great stuff, but it assumes that most of the students in class are actually interested in learning. In most cases, this is true, but I teach an alt. ed guitar class. I’m glad I didn’t fit the bill of any of your “teachers” ^_^. I don’t yell, I don’t accuse students or make up ridiculous punishments which don’t match the behavior. However, the only time learning happens in the class is when the most disruptive 10 students are gone for the day. I feel like I’ve tried everything with them.

I’m a new teacher and found my myself slowly turning into Mrs. Trexler. Thanks for this vid, I know what to absolutely avoid as I become a teacher.

This is fucking hilarious! Somebody finally got it right. Yeah, man. I’m a teacher and that’s what I would like to do and say at times.

This vid is about what teachers really WANT to do with misbehaving students. I can’t imagine how to deal with students like the ones cited by MathTeacherGuy… just send them to someone so as not to distract other students’ mode of learning.

Excellent video. This has really showed me how to be with my students. I think the techniques you show will work equally well with the 7th grader who comes to school drunk, the 8th grader who sells prescription drugs at school, and the adhd kid who comes in with a pound bag of candy every day. I would still like a technique for the girl convicted of assault with deadly force — perhaps a sequel is in the works.
