Kids Are Worth It!: Giving Your Child the Gift of Inner Discipline

The idea of a home business is very attractive to most people as it offers them the opportunity of being their own boss and working on their own hours. However, you should be careful because running and profiting from a home business is not as easy as an advertisement make it sound. It requires equal amount of time and hard work as a regular job or business and more of discipline and self-control than you might be used to.
There is no shortage of home business opportunities. All you need is a product idea and starting from there you need to go on an information gathering mission in order to determine the feasibility of your business project and getting to know what it will cost to start and run your own home business. There are also many opportunities for people who do not have a product idea of their own but would like to promote an existing business. These programs are known as affiliate programs and there are many such home business opportunities on the Internet.
Be careful though. The Internet is overcrowded with home business opportunities and there are many fraudulent websites that will take your money and simply tell you to do something silly in order to make a profit. Two of the oldest home business frauds involve the envelop stuffing and handling insurance claims. These programs will ask you for a modest amount of money (allegedly for equipment and training) but you never make enough money to recover your investment.
A good way to avoid scams is to do a thorough research on the business topic. Affiliate sites will never, ever, under any circumstances make you money unless your build a healthy downline. Do not listen to whatever the main business-offering website says, even in its testimonials. Search for third-party evaluations of a home business. Get references with telephone numbers and speak to people who have used the business directly. Unless you can contact the people in the testimonial, the testimonials are unreliable.
If a home business opportunity offers to make you money while working 1 hour a day (sometimes it can be 15 minutes a day) then ignore it. A genuine business opportunity will need some serious amount of hard work and time. It will never be so easy. Your income will directly be proportional to your inputs. For fifteen minutes a day, you will earn practically nothing so do not even go in that direction.
Home business is a good option for someone who wishes to fill in the time when the kids are in school, or perhaps your job does not involve long shifts, and so on. People do not start a home business with the idea of spending 8-10 hours per day on working. These people can only spare a couple of hours and their incomes match their efforts. They are not going to get rich this way.

1. Eliminate junk food – gawd! This was very hard at first!
Doing your shopping on your own is the easiest way to shop, as children and sometimes spouses are usually the ones requesting junk food. Gotta blame someone, right?
Shopping alone takes some discipline and, once you get the hang of it, will ensure that you only buy foods your body really needs for optimal health.
2. Buy and drink water or milk instead of soft drinks.
You can still enjoy your favorite drinks at a sporting event or night out, although you should cut the number you imbibe. When shopping, stick with the smallest size of that taboo drink, to save money and calories. And, don’t buy the diet cola hype.
Read the label for ingredients and look for syrup content. That’s where the fat devils are hiding.
Children and even adults need milk or milk products on a daily basis. Milk will also help you feel stronger, provide calcium for
healthy bones and healthy teeth, and you’ll sleep better. Calcium has relaxing qualities. Remember the advice – drink a warm glass of milk before bed?
3. Buy fruits in quantity.
When they are in season, buy fruits in quantity and freeze any extras. You can buy several pounds this way, and freeze extras to have them when the fruit goes out of season. Wash the fruit well, remove any spoiled pieces, dry thoroughly, then freeze in plastic zipper bags.
You can even buy apples in season and not freeze them. Just place in a plastic bag in the bottom drawer of the fridge. They will stay fresh for weeks on end. My wife does this and we have fresh apple pies all Winter.
4. Meats and beans are a super health source.
Meats and beans are the best sources for protein. Lean meat is more expensive than meats with a lot of fat but here’s a tip: Buy the cheap stuff, fry the meat in a pan with some water in it so the fat floats. I like to season the meat while it’s frying. The water floats off the excess seasoning. Then, scoop the meat onto a plate lined several paper towels thick to soak up the grease and you have your own version of low-fat meat.
Canned beans are always a great deal as well, as they give you protein at a great low price. Buy the cheapest store brand too. Likely they were canned by a name brand company anyway.
5. Use beans as a substitute in meals.
You should use beans a substitute for meat frequently. There are several varieties. Prepare them in a crock pot so, when you get home, they are ready to consume.
The USDA recommends eating beans at least 4 times per week. If you experience gas after eating beans you should try washing them, covering them with water, bringing the water to a boil, then draining it off and refilling the pot.
6. Cast your fishing line at the dock or at the market.
If you live in a coastal area or an area where fish abound, make that an integral part of your diet. You can catch them from the
lakes or rivers, saving money in the process but don’t overdo it. Mecury, you know? Once a week is good.
7. Peanut butter isn’t just for kids.
Peanut butter is great for those on a budget. as it’s popular with almost everyone. You can use it for sandwiches instead of eating hot dogs. It does need to be refrigerated. Bigger jars can last you for weeks.
One word of caution. Peanut butter contains some mold. If you are allergic, well, you probably already know it and already know to not overdo it. In Canada, candy bars no longer contain peanuts. Imagine that!
8. Water, water, and more water.
You should fill up with foods that have a high content of water. Watermelon, salads, and even sugar free gelatin are all great examples. Water is nature’s elixir and a source of life to the body.
Eating healthy is a lifestyle you will not regret. You can eat healthy for just a few bucks, which makes it perfect for those of us on a
budget.
Now, you know, you really don’t need a lot of money to have the lifestyle and health you’ve always wanted.

Is the importance of time management over-rated? It seems everywhere we look today people are in a hurry. Modern society dictates a strong emphasis on wanting and getting things in the now. Is this you?
There is a difference between being busy and effective in your day-to-day activities. Many people seem to think being busy means being effective but in reality, this is far from the truth. This is where the importance of time management comes into play. You can complete less tasks on any given day and be more effective. In turn, you’ll cut down on stress levels which in turn, has less impact on your health. No, the importance of time management is not over-rated.
One of the most annoying phrases I hear almost on a daily basis is there are not enough hours in a day. Simple fact is, there are 24 hours in every day and 168 hours in every week. That’s a given. The trick is how you utilise this time.
Implementing Good Time Management Technique
Let’s take a look at some ways of making your time more effective.
1. Don’t over commit yourself. It goes without saying. When you take on more than you can handle, then you are asking for trouble particularly if the end result involves providing the finished product to a second party. This will quickly gain you a reputation of being unreliable.
2. Prioritize your daily tasks. You’ve probably heard this a zillion times but realistically, how many people really do this. The trick is not just making a prioritized list but having the discipline to stick to it. Sure, you can be a little flexible but completing tasks in relation to the “due date” of those tasks is oh, so important.
3. Set yourself a time limit to complete your tasks on any given day. For example, I start my web publishing day at 7:00am. I know it’s early but it suits me. But I won’t bury myself in my office for the rest of the day until it’s time to go to bed. My official “knock off” time is 3.00pm, give or take a half an hour.
4. Find a balance between work and play. As explained in the previous point, sticking to a time schedule daily will help keep down stress levels. Web publishing requires having a fresh mind and no one can yet convince me my creative mind will be as good at 3:00pm than it was at 7:00am. You need to take time to enjoy some recreation even if it’s sitting in front of the television and catching a good “flick.”
5. Give yourself rewards for completed tasks. They can be any sort of reward you like. Some people will reward themselves several times a day. I like to going for the big reward at the end of the day. I find it keeps me motivated. Whatever works for you.
Even though people’s daily circumstances will differ to mine; different profession, chores or picking up the kids from school, the ultimate aim is still the same. Find a balance between work and play; something that works for you and release yourself from that unnecessary “snowed under” effect. Do this and you too will begin to benefit from the importance of time management.

Toys are not just for kids.1 In fact, many adults have a strong tendency to become “healthily” obsessed with toys—that is of course when they find the right one. My dad for instance loves his guitar. Grated, his guitar is very shiny, and has a nice large, sound-magnifying booster amp that it can be connected to. It even (in my opinion) has a fairly decent sound, but when my dad started referring to it as his second wife, I couldn’t help but worry about the inevitable downfall of repressed musicians who have found their calling too late in life.
Then there are these Bluetooth phones that some adults (particularly of the male gender as far as I can tell—-I’m thinking of three specific guys already) almost treat these objects, as some sort of power symbol, which if you haven’t noticed children do with their toys as well. They keep them in their ears when they go to social events and even to the grocery store. In fact, it’s at the grocery store that they manifest a little more bravoure and je ne sais quoi in the frozen foods aisle when they grab their Tostino’s in front of the ladies (not that this Bluetooth toy obsession is limited to men). “Well, it is a phone you say—they have to have it around and the ear is a convenient place to keep it.” “True,” I admit…you are right, YOU are right, but nevertheless I think there is something about a BlueTooth that fits well in the context of this article, wouldn’t you say?
Then there is me. I admit it. I am a fallible toy lover myself, but I certainly didn’t realize it until the tp Amsterdam Trampoline came along. Maybe any trampoline would have sufficed but this was the tp Amsterdam trampoline that I got for only $179.00 and which lit up my backyard (figuratively of course) like a neighborly UFO. When I got the tp Amsterdam trampoline I started jumping tentatively—just for 10 minutes or so. I wanted to be out in the fresh air before I went to work and besides, my friend had told me that jumping on a tp Amsterdam trampoline was good for your abs. I jumped and the tp Amsterdam trampoline responded. After a few 10 minute sessions on the tp Amsterdam trampoline they became 15 and then 20 minute sessions and then, old kinetic memories from my childhood trampoline days began to rejoinder. I looked over the fence at the neighbor’s houses on both sides. Was I really going to make a fool of myself in front of the neighbors! Was I actually going to do a front flip followed by a round off with a cheerful cheerleader arm throw-out? It seemed a bit quirky—I admit. “I might even be late for work,” I thought, but I didn’t care. I didn’t want to resist the call of the tp Amsterdam trampoline. My tp Amsterdam trampoline toy had stolen my heart. It was then that I understand how my tp Amsterdam trampoline was connecting me with the rest of the world. My tp Amsterdam trampoline had been a catalyst for understanding. I understood why my co-workers (again, mostly male) were called time after time by the sirens of the Tac-Ops video game and why Fred next door would delicately wash his boat like a proud father and guard it in his new garage with his new state-of-the-art alarm system that he paid extra for to have it customized to his garage and why my brother will make himself suffer by driving from dealership to dealership test driving cars that he will never likely afford in three lifetimes. Now I think I have a greater understanding. Are we ailing with idolatrous tendencies? Only time and hopefully some renewed discipline will prevail.
In the meantime, I will go bounce on my tp Amsterdam trampoline. After all, there will probably always be a part of ourselves that is open to toys.

If you are new to bodybuilding, everything can be very overwhelming. The problem is if you ask a 100 people how to get started, you will get 100 different answers. I will try to answer some of the basic questions everyone asks:
Should I Join A Gym Or Workout At Home?
If you have access to a gym, this is definitely the best choice. There are too many distractions in a home. If you are a very discipline person, then working out at home may be an option. For the average person, home workouts do not last.
Once you decide where you are going to workout, you have to decide on a time of day that works best for your schedule. Try to pick a time that you know will have the least distractions. If you have a family and kids, try to get to the gym before work. Or see if you can get in a workout at lunch. Whatever you chose, just be consistent with your workouts.
An added benefit to joining a gym is you can work with a personal trainer and have a personalize workout routine setup for your body type. If you decide to workout at home, there are plenty of books and magazines that can help you setup a workout routine.
What kind of workout routine should I follow?
If you are just starting out, I would start out with a routine that hits each body part once a week:
Day 1: Chest/Back/Biceps
Chest:
Dumbbell Bench Press – One warm-up set of 15 reps followed by 3 sets of 12 reps.
Incline Bench Press – Three sets of 12 reps.
Dumbell Flyes – Three sets of 15 reps.
Back:
Lat Pulldowns To The Front – One warm-up set of 15 reps followed by 3 sets of 12 reps.
One Arm Dumbell Row – Three sets of 12 reps.
Low Cable row – Three sets of 12 to 15 reps.
Biceps:
Straight Bar or EZ Bar Curls – Three sets of 12 to 15 reps.
Alternating Seated Dumbbell Curls – Three sets of 12 to 15 reps.
Day 2: Cardio
Half hour on the treadmill or elliptical trainer.
Day 3: Shoulders/Triceps/Abs:
Shoulders:
DB Should Press – One warm-up set of 15 reps followed by 3 sets of 12 reps.
Lateral Raises – Three sets of 12 to 15 reps.
Triceps:
Cable Pushdowns – Three sets of 12 to 15 reps.
EZ Bar Skull Crushers – Three sets of 12 reps.
Abs:
Crunches – Three sets of 20 to 30 reps.
Day 4: Cardio
Half hour on the treadmill or elliptical trainer.
Day 5: Quadriceps/ Hamstrings/Calves
Quads:
Leg Press – One warm-up set of 15 reps followed by 3 sets of 12 reps.
Squats – One warm-up set of 12-15 reps followed by 3 sets of 12 reps.
Alternating DB Lunge – Three sets of 12 to 15 reps.
Hamstrings:
DB Stiff Leg Deadlift – One warm-up set of 15 reps followed by 3 sets of 12 reps.
Calves:
Standing or seated Calf Raises – One warm-up set of 15 reps followed by 4 sets of 15-20 reps.
Day 6: Optional Cardio
Half hour on the treadmill, elliptical trainer or fast walk.
Try to keep a journal of your workouts (including weights and times). This will help you keep track of your progress. Following the workout for a few months increasing the weights whenever you can. Try to keep strict form to avoid injury.
Should I use nutritional supplements?
Definitely! When you workout, you are breaking your muscle down. Your body requires nutrients to build the muscle back up. Building muscle is 10% working out and 90% nutrients/rest. You build your muscle when you are resting.
If I have to pick the top bodybuilding supplements, it would be in this order:
a)Multi Vitamin – Make sure your body has all the necessary nutrients, antioxidants and minerals to build muscle.
b)Whey Protein – Try to make sure you eat at least 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight if you are following a workout routine.
c)Creatine – Try for 5 grams of creatine a day. If you have a sensitive stomach, try Kre-Alkalyn.
d)Water – Water is not a supplement…but it is very important. Drinking lots of water keeps the muscles full and helps flush your body of toxins.
With the supplements listed above, also make sure you stick to healthy foods like oatmeal, egg whites, tuna, chicken, brown rice, vegetables, etc. If you need to cheat, do so in moderation. Try to stay away from processed foods, sugar and alcohol.
Eating small meals 5-6 times a day is more beneficial then 3 meals a day. It keeps your muscles fueled throughout the day.
By following the advice above, you will be well on your way to develop the body you dreamed about. The key to bodybuilding is consistency. If you stay consistent, you will succeed!
