Great. You might think about doing some public speaking. I think it would be nice to fill the school auditorium with parents and let you go. Great job. Fantastic sentiment.
You parent your kids the way my parents did us. School was our job, and we were expected to do it properly. My brother and I turned out fine. I became an optical coatings technician. He became a director of a library system. We did our job and learned, and it allowed us to learn things that let us get responsible grown up jobs.
Excellent response, sir, although not one that seems to be that common anymore, IMO.
Something tells me that in the long run your daughter will appreciate what you and your wife are doing, and teaching, although maybe not for a while… lol
Best wishes to you from this old Tea Party right-winger. You’re doing it right, and I especially like the fact that you are not only correcting your daughter, but you are also correcting your friends. Let ‘em have it, break that’ “victim’” mentality.
Amen, brother! I am a middle school teacher. Thank you. Thank you very much! I am so appreciative of you! And I love parents who support me support THEIR children, because together, we can teach them to be responsible citizens. You made my day. And, your daughter is a very lucky girl.
I wish this was a class parents had to take before leaving the hospital with their child. Unfortunately, it has gone on for too many generations and now the me, me, me mentality has taken hold. I get so angry but what can we do but teach our children right from wrong and hope beyond hope they pass that on to theirs. We’ve gotten so PC that parents seem to truly believe the village should raise the child. (Well, that and the TV)
Gotta ? it. You’re right TMot.. WE MUST DO BETTER.
While working law enforcement , I witnessed a child being brought in the station by A bus driver. After arriving to get the child, the parent began to curse out the officer. She had no words for her son who had razzled the driver to the point of pulling the bus over….but was upset because the officer asked for the father’s name to complete the paperwork. I looked at the cuffed child watching his mom, and knew the roots of his problem.
my sister been having a problem with her Daughter Missing The Bus she is 8 she saids kids picking on her about her speech & she has a birthmark on her forehead it looks like a beauty mark to me or one of those things women in india put on their foreheads she saids the kids say its a pimple i told her she is going to school to learn & her grades matter not what the other kids say well i took her to church with me & my mom the other day & she was runing & yelling i said she acts a fool thats why
Brother TMOT I am with you on this one. Parents, before you cuss out someone who is trying to educate your child make sure your childs behavior isn’t the problem, or better yet, make sure your behavior isn’t at the root of your childs problem. The more time you spend raising your children, and instilling character in them, the less time you’ll see the little ninjas on the evening news!!!!
On point! This world is not fair so I make sure that my children understand that they are to sit in that room, learn, be respectful and pay attention. Their grades are both their’s and MY responsibility. I was a teacher for a few years and the children are off the chain because their parents’ demonstrate the disrespect first!
Amen brother TMOT! Personal accountability is DEAD in this country, and it all started with an entitlement mentality that modern parents were brought up with as children. And now their own children are having that same mentality passed on to them.
