You apparently are unknowledgeable of quantum physics. A basic tenet of it is the act of observation affects the outcome. Observing changes the action of the observed.

Our thoughts do change reality. This is especially true when we put action behind them. Every single thing that is made was once an idea. Civilizations are built upon ideas.

Perception creates one's personal reality. Our perception is dependent on our belief systems. Where one person sees sin or evil another sees a harmless behavior.
References :
Yes and no... if you really want to get into it spiritually we are in the age of pisces which in the cycle is the stage of egotism ..unknown potential and delusion. humans fit under this category to well haha. but people have been becoming AWARE of what this reality or whatever is capable of. your right about wishful thinking not changing reality because it YOUR reality and when your wishing your asking from something or someone else to do it for you when really you can do it.. you just have the mentality of thinking whats solid and whats not. were drifting away from this so called reality because were being feed that its not right..false, wrong inncorrect and we must change it to fit us...when really its perfect you inwardly need to change your perceptions. we cannot change what is but we can change our way of looking at it. reality is in the eye of the beholder.
References :
That's just as bad as a religious person offering their child their religion as the ONLY choice.

We each have our own lives to live, and part of the journey is figuring things out for ourselves. Telling children 'how it is' for things like this is guiding them to live their lives the way you want them to, and that is selfish. Parents who encourage their children to experiment allow their children to become independent and self-motivated. Parents who tell their child all their 'answers' encourage blind obedience and fail to develop critical thinking.

I can't stand people who see their children as extentions of themselves rather than independant people.
References :
I'm not quite sure where the trend is actually headed, but you are right.

It's more than silly though, its a dangerous way to think that extends far beyond religion.
"Oh, vaccines cause autism. I just *feel* it."
"Homeopathy works, just believe my emotional plea!"

We need to teach critical thinking and how to evaluate a claim based on evidence.
References :
Belief in a higher power is, in some ways, a logical belief. Humans have not yet found all the answers, and until we do, we will continue to believe in some form of a deity. If something didn't create matter, how did it get here?
There's a beginning that CAN NOT be explained by science.
Fundamentalist Christians, they are obviously illogical in their beliefs, but deists, are they so ridiculous?
References :
I hear the voice of a spirit that claims to be God™.

He's real. You won't believe it, most likely, until you hear His voice, too.
References :
I am an atheist, that is the world as far as I'm concerned. It's as real as can be. It goes the same for a theist though, they believe it, and so it is real to them.
References :
You have several good points. But I sincerely believe that the human race was farthest away from reality during the "Crimson and Clover" "Puff the Magic Dragon" "California Dreamin'" era.
References :
I agree with all you said so my answer to your question is NO ... people actually are putting foolish religion aside ... atheists are growing ... imagine how it was in the middle ages ...

So i'd say the exact opposite, people are drifting further away from non-sense every day
References :
Yes But the question is which reality is true? Religiously speaking. Are any religions correct?

I think the reality is that None are correct and the trend in the increasing number of atheists is a good sign to me.
References :
Spiritually speaking, are humans drifting further away from reality every day?
Everyone has their own "beliefs" about the nature of reality.

We are all encouraged to "believe" what we want, and "decide for ourselves" what we "believe".

Everyone keeps saying that it is the "choice of the individual" or "what is right for them".

It seems that almost everyone has completely overlooked the fact that "wishful thinking" doesn't actually CHANGE reality.

People, there is a real, true, and ACTUAL reality.

This actual reality exists independently of our thoughts, perceptions, opinions, or "beliefs".

That reality does not include gods, goddesses, fairies, or unicorns.

It does not matter what we think, what we "choose", or what we "decide is right for us".

Actual reality is unchanged by the power of our minds.

It does not bend to our will.

We cannot make something so, simply by wishing or hoping for it to be so.

It matters not how strong our "faith" in our "beliefs" are.

I even see atheists, when asked about the indoctrination of children, saying things like "let them decide for themselves", and "give them all of the options".

People, "belief" is not a valid option. It is simply a pathetic delusion.

We do not have the option of changing reality into whatever we want to "believe".

It is not "our choice".

I really and truly do not understand this particular way of thinking, but I am very worried about the consequences of it.

I think, somewhere along the way, we have ALL given a little too much credibility to the concept of ignoring that an actual, relatively unchangeable reality exists, and that it is acceptable, or even sane, to decide for ourselves that something is true, simply becuse we wish it to be.

What do YOU think?
