We each have our own lives to live, and part of the journey is figuring things out for ourselves. Telling children 'how it is' for things like this is guiding them to live their lives the way you want them to, and that is selfish. Parents who encourage their children to experiment allow their children to become independent and self-motivated. Parents who tell their child all their 'answers' encourage blind obedience and fail to develop critical thinking. I really and truly do not understand this particular way of thinking, but I am very worried about the consequences of it.
