Informative Presentation for my Communications Class

I am a student teacher and this is what I think I will have work on. I am good dealing with individuals. Any ideas

Is it legal or Illegal to spank that way? Do you spank your children this way? Why do spank on their bare bottoms?

I’m not saying abusing them or leaving bruises on them because I think this is wrong, but is it illegal to spank their behinds when they do something wrong? Or does it vary from state to state?

Many parents teach their children that lying is a really bad thing, especially lying to parents. Turns out that a lot of parents are hypocrites and regularly lie to their children in order to influence their behavior and emotions. Parenting by lying ranges from telling tall tales (about the tooth fairy, for example), to fibbing (“Tommy, what a beautiful drawing!”), to manipulation in order to change the child’s behavior.

We’re just starting the process of adoption. We have no idea what gender or age child we will adopt, nor do we care. With that said, is there one thing you wish someone would have told you about parenting or children?

I think confidence comes in the same way that nurturing, and empathy, and compassion, and a child’s feeling deeply listening to it is hugely important. The other is giving them messages of confidence. Telling them ‘I believe you can do this’, ‘I think you can handle this’, ‘I think you are going to be great’. Quiet often we rescue, and we fix, and we solve problems, and we kind of get over-involved sometimes in some of the struggles that our kids have. I am not saying to leave them to defend for themselves, but sometimes we fix every single problem. We are giving them the message that they can’t fix their own problems, and there is something to be said for a little bit of healthy adversity and kids learn that they can face things that are not so easy and come out the other end and they will be strong and be OK. So I think the message of confidence, not rescuing too quickly, giving them the message that you think they have everything they need to handle the problem that is in front of them. It is the best thing you could do for self confidence.
