Many parents teach their children that lying is a really bad thing, especially lying to parents. Turns out that a lot of parents are hypocrites and regularly lie to their children in order to influence their behavior and emotions. Parenting by lying ranges from telling tall tales (about the tooth fairy, for example), to fibbing (“Tommy, what a beautiful drawing!”), to manipulation in order to change the child’s behavior.

When your kids step out of line…..should you whoop their ASS! or give em a time out? FACEBOOK www.facebook.com TWITTER www.twitter.com WEBSITE www.realtalkgurus.com BLOG http For Royalty free music check out: incompetech.com I see a lot of parents who simply neglect the children to the point where their kids roam free and can say and do as they please with out any discipline at all. Back in the day spanking your kids use to be the solution, but nowadays kids are fighting back and killing their parents (no jokes) I personally found that fucked up. I don’t believe in hitting a child but Time out is definitely not a solution either…so what can be done to punish kids who step out of line and become disobedient?
I’ve heard of young adults who have parents and they are still “parenting” them, ordering them around and telling them what to do and the parents claim that they do it for their children’s own good and safety. I’d say they’re overprotective and maybe needs to have more kids if they want to keep controlling their kids. I’ve even seen a person who is almost 30 and his parents still order him around.
I have a cousin who has about 10 parenting books, all about a million pages long, and she read all of them! It never occurred to me to read parenting books. What about you? Did you read parenting books or go 100% by maternal instinct, or somewhere in the middle?
My cousin got accidentally pregnant so I think she felt like she had no idea how to be a parent so read these books.
I’m working in the most violent school of the most dangerous area of my Board. I am teaching French as a second language.
I am wondering how to perform good classroom management techniques – without the use of the office (they are totally useless) or parents (most of them don’t have a phone…unfortunately…)
So far rewards for good work and detentions for punishment is good.
