My mother in law suggests we should put our children in time-out in a playpen with a breathable canopy that they cannot get out of. I have a 5 year old girl with ADHD, a 3 year old boy with a speech language delay, and a 2 year old boy. My first two children are extremely difficult and time-outs in the corner, natural consequences, and taking toys away is not working for us.
We’ve been visiting my mother in law and so far her method seems to be working (it’s how she disciplines kids in her daycare rather than spanking). She also suggests spanking, but I am not ok with it. I feel like trapping my kids in a playpen is kind of abusive, what do you think?
