I suppose it does depend on your definition of "whip". If you mean spank, with an open hand, than no, that isn’t wrong. If you mean get a belt, whip, switch, hairbrush, wooden spoon, etc… than yea, that’s wrong.

When physically disciplining a child, you should never leave any lasting marks. Alittle bit of redness, not so bad, anything that doesn’t fade pretty fast, or worse turns to a bruise is abuse.

and if you whip them to a state that can be called child abuse you can get your children takin away. there will always be rules young grasshopper. just follow them.

i do know for a fact that you may spank a child in a few states as long as you dont leave a mark. i dont think it is ok to abuse a child.

Because parents like you take it too far….WHIP!!! A smack to the butt is ok…whipping and more that parents do to the point that their children are physically hurt is what has made it so hard for us to give one swat to the butt without getting in trouble

It's okay to give them a little smack on the butt to show them they misbehaved, it's called discipline. It's when you beat them to the point of injuries it's not okay. People get to worked up over a little thing.

TRUST ME! This worked when i was a kid. Get hit in the butt once by a belt, hard. theyll learn to stop. whenever they mis behave again, pull out the belt and snap it. DONT HIT THEM AGAIN! itll send fear into them.

It’s because now the media views any form of physical discipline as child abuse and the parents don’t want the label of "abusing" their children. Also, some parents want to disguise abuse as "discipline" and society doesn’t take the time to individually check each situation, so they assume every situation is abusive.

But a little discipline every now and then is beneficial for the child’s wellbeing. If more people were parents to their kids rather than friends, kids wouldn’t be as disrespectful as they are now.

Child abuse has had a pretty terrifying effect on America. After all, violent behavior in childhood can really influence violent behavior later on in life. Ever notice most serial killers were abused during childhood? It’s really created a scare of physical discipline and made it almost taboo in some parts of the country, especially when "enough" punishment is subjective to the parents. Other people feel physical discipline is old fashioned, with some people having success reprimanding their children other ways. Other people, I may have to say, just find it easier to bribe their children into submission than deal with consequences.
I don’t necessarily think it’s a great way to raise your child, but I don’t believe that those who do should get harassed for it.

There's nothing wrong or illegal with giving a good spanking to your child. Even teenagers. Whippings are extremely painful. Probably, best reserved for the most serious of offenses.

Because everything is "politically correct" now and people are afraid even to tell their kids no or punish them. They say time out, and sit them on a chair and think thats a punishment? Yeah maybe for a 2 year old. Thats why theres so many brats running around, because they have no respect for anyone or anything, because their parents decided to let them walk all over them. I am completely against beating children, abuse is not funny and not ok. But im on the side of people who are using spanking as punishment dont genuinly want to hurt their child, it probably hurts the parent more to do it, but sometimes its needed as far as im concerned.

It’s negative behaviour and teaches children to have a negative outlook on life. They’ll only learn to hate you for it and turn away from you later in life.

i dont see how its wrong, some children are going crazy and treat their parents like cow sh*t, all all because the parents think giving them a few smacks in the head is child abuse. alot pf parents these days blame the media for making their children like this, but in fact its their own fault, they dont know how to discipline them.

Because it’s pointless and teaches them nothing but to hit others in the future (look at yourself…you are probably exactly like, if not da* close to your parents). I am one of three and as a chile me and my siblings were never once disciplined with force. Yes we had time outs and could possibly sit in our rooms with nothing to do for a week at a time, but never force. And you no what, now i have an amazing relationship with my parents and they are very leniant to what I do so I respect there rules, even without the physical discipline. So simply put it’s just stupid…unless you want your kids to later hate you in life. Plus how would you like it if i came over to your house and whipped you for every mistake you made at home/work/ect? Wouldn’t be fun would it, because everyone makes mistakes.

honestly. its called child abuse. instead of whipping your kids, how about talking to them. understanding there problems and disciplining them in other ways. my father never hit me when i was a child and i turned out pretty damn good. i know the difference from right and wrong and it didnt take a spanking to teach me it. dont hit your kids or your no better than any other abusive father in the world

Physically correcting you child is not wrong. When I was 5 my mom woul pinch me if I acted up. She would smack me on my butt but she never beat me. I am still somewhat a kid and doing fine I love my mommy

?…i dont see how the two examples counter beating a child…i personally think that a lil pat on the butt can be done if the kid really needs it. i dont believe in abuse to where it injures the child and goes past getting a point across into anger issues and abuse…i would not smack the kids bum out of my own anger but for their own safety and for discipline…like if i had a 5 yr old and he neglected to listen and ran out in the middle of the road, id give em a swift tap on the bum after sweeping them up out of danger and id explain why i did so…its only negative if you make it negative. some kids dont need spankings, each child is different in how they need to be raised.
